SPC Frank Kevin Rivers Jr. was born in the District of Columbia, on 25 July 1980. He graduated from Potomac High School Dumfries, Virginia in 1999. SPC Rivers enlisted in the United States Army on 8 October 1999. He attended basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and advance individual training as a 74B Information Systems Operator-Analyst at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Upon graduation of advance individual training, SPC Rivers was assigned to the 334th Signal Company, 3d Brigade, 2d Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington in September 2000 where he would take part in the transformation of the Army�s first Stryker Brigade Combat Team. He worked primarily assisting the Brigade Command Group and staff in all automation requirements. Additionally, SPC Rivers worked as a liaison between Brigade S6 and civilian contractors by tracking communications equipment job orders for the brigade. SPC Rivers earned the following awards: Army Achievement Medal (2OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Global War On Terrorism Medal. SPC Frank Kevin Rivers Jr. was 23 years of age and is survived by his father Frank K. Rivers Sr. and brother PFC Lemar C. Rivers who is part of 1st Armored Division currently participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
